Looking For Alaska by John Green

Not everyone is held together on the inside even if they act normal. People struggle. The book

"Looking for Alaska" by John Green, expresses the idea that everyone struggles. Sometimes

emotions can change a person and how they act. It effects everyone in different ways. This book teaches

readers that suffering is everywhere and in everyone. Alaska tried to escape her pain, and this decision brought

suffering upon her friends.

In life there are many challenges we have to face, you can choose to overcome these obstacles or you

can choose to give up. "Looking for Alaska" explains " The only way out of the labyrinth of suffering

is to forgive." To me, this means that Alaska didn't try hard enough to free herself of her painful

emotions. If Alaska would of forgiven herself and her friends she could of escaped the

labyrinth without dying. In the end of the story after Alaska dies, Miles, Chip, and Takumi get over

their loss with the help of each other. In my opinion all of them, unlike Alaska, realized that if you

put trust in yourself and one another, life wouldn't be as bad as you think it is. I am wondering if

Alaska knew, that if she forgave herself of what has happened in the past she would be able to enjoy

life with the people who care about her. Even though Alaska has done things she, and her friends

aren't proud of, when someone truly cares about you, you have to believe that anything is possible.

In conclusion, because of Alaska's death she caused her friends major suffering, but they kept

her spirit alive. They figured out the way out of the labyrinth of suffering. Alaska now understands

her mistake of taking action instead of thinking ahead. If she would of thought of an alternative

solution to ending her pain, she could of saved herself from endless amounts of suffering.
