Summer Reading Experience

This summer I read Taking Flight. The book made my summer reading experience better than I expected it to be. I'm normally not excited about reading, but when I start reading an interesting book I do enjoy reading it and learning more. I am a dancer, this book is about an eighteen year old, professional/principle dancer, and how she overcame the obstacles of being a toddler living in Africa, during the war. Reading about this girl was very motivational. This summer I loved reading my book when it's a stormy day and there is nothing else to do, but sit by the window with my book and forget about everything else that is going on in the world.

Another book I read this summer was Shackleton. This book was about a man and the struggles he faced while trying to reach the poles. He tried multiple times to reach the poles with his crew but, both times he was forced to either take a different route and split up his crew or to return home. He had such a big heart and was full of determination that he was prepared to do whatever it would take to bring him and all of his crew members safely home to their family's. This book was very interesting to me because I enjoy reading non-fiction books. This is based on my passion for learning social studies.

These two books were both inspirational and they made my summer reading experience more engaging. I could relate to Taking Flight and I was inspired, yet fascinated by the story of Shackleton. I would definitely recommend these books to fellow readers. That's what I read and enjoyed this summer.

  1. I like how you started off saying you don't really have interest in reading but you really enjoyed the books you read even though you thought you wouldn't!
