Maze Runner by James Dashner

                

            In life there are many different personality traits, you have to choose which qualities are going to help your personality and which ones are going to hurt it. In the book "Maze Runner" by James Dashner, the main character Thomas, is the only greenie (kids new to the maze) who expressed so much curiosity for the maze. Thomas also said that the maze feels familiar to him. This is very peculiar so it worry's the other gladers. They later found out that Thomas helped the creators make the maze, but he proved to them that he is

on their side by helping them escape the maze. This book is valuable to readers because it shows them that curiosity and honesty can get you far in life. 

       

        Honesty and curiosity are two important traits because without them there can be severe consequences, like losing all the people you care about. This could of happened to Thomas if he hadn't told his friends the truth about him and Teresa helping the creators. I wasn't surprised when Thomas said, " I just...feel like I need to save everyone. To redeem myself." Thomas wanted to save all his friends because he thought he let them down. This just shows how much he cares about what happens to them. Thomas knows he can't save all of the gladers but he tried to save as many as possible. I was extremely surprised when Teresa explained," It was you and me, Tom. We did this to them. To us." It makes me wonder why the creators would turn on Teresa and Thomas, and then put them in the maze. This reveals why honesty can destroy everything Thomas and Teresa wanted, to be normal kids with friends and a family. If they gave into the evil inside of them they wouldn't be able to help Minho, Newt and Chuck, the people who have been there for Thomas ever since he has entered the maze. Even though Thomas and Teresa helped the enemy the past is in the past and since they owned up to their mistakes and disappointments by being honest, the gladers were able to escape the maze with a minimal amount of deaths all thanks to Thomas.

          

        In conclusion, honesty, bravery and curiosity are important traits to have in life. Thomas expresses all three of these traits and because of that he is able to do many good deeds. For example, despite his troubled past him and Teresa chose the right path. The path they chose didn't lead to power or riches, it lead to respect and friendship. All you have to do to get there is to be honest and brave.
